EcoBuild 2016 was a great opportunity for Ongéan. In the Autumn of 2015 I attended a talk , organised by Wavin at the offices of UBM to discuss the possibility of London and other UK cities flooding. Here I met the Creative Director of UBM, Francois Morrow and after a creative meeting a generous offer of being a guest at their show the following March lead to this project.
Here are a selection of photographs of the Urban Cabin built for EcoBuild 2016. This was partially built in our workshops at Park Mews and completed on site at ExCel London in the docklands. The building was constructed with 100% reclaimed materials that came from various waste sources. These were film and theatre set 'stage flats', antique timbers from the demolition of victorian buildings , vintage doors and DGU overruns from construction sites.
The little cabin created a real spark of interest at the show and became a focal and meeting point for attendees to sit and chat on our car tyre and pallet seats. After the show we had interest from architectural schools and colleges, offers for the involvement in design and environmental projects worldwide with possibilities of developing our ideas within the UK and European construction and hospitality industries.
